Here are some troubleshooting steps you could take to find out where the problem with sending email is.
Assuming you are using Windows, do the following:
- Go to Start -> Run
- Type in cmd and hit enter.
- You'll see a terminal or dos windows - a little black window.
- Type "telnet yourdomainname 25" and hit enter. Your domainname is your mail server, e.g., mail.yourisp.com or something like that.
- Once you hit enter, the screen should clear and it should show on the top: 220 someserver.com ESMTP and a blinking cursor on the bottom of that.
- If you can see this, then your smtp is working. If not, reboot your modem, reboot your computer and if still no help, call your ISP.
